1. Who is responsible for your data?

Pádel & Match respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal information when you visit padelandmatch.com, join a waitlist, register for or attend a Pádel & Match event, participate in our matching process, contact us, or otherwise interact with Pádel & Match.

Because Pádel & Match is a social dating experience, some of the information participants voluntarily provide may be more personal than information normally required for a standard sporting event. We therefore aim to collect only the information genuinely necessary to organise our events, create relevant participant groups, facilitate optional mutual matching and maintain a safe environment.

2. What is Pádel & Match?

Pádel & Match is a social dating experience built around padel.

We organise events where single adults can meet other people naturally through padel and social interaction.

Some events may also include an optional post-event matching system through which participants can privately indicate whom they would like to see again.

Pádel & Match is not a dating application and does not create public dating profiles.

Our principle is simple:

Meet off the apps.

3. What personal data do we collect?

The information we collect depends on how you interact with Pádel & Match.

Website visitors

When you visit padelandmatch.com, certain technical information may automatically be processed, such as:

  • IP address
  • device type
  • browser type
  • operating system
  • pages visited
  • approximate location derived from technical information
  • date and time of visits
  • referring website or source
  • cookie or similar technology information where applicable

Where required, non-essential cookies or tracking technologies will only be used after obtaining the appropriate consent.

Further information may be provided in our separate Cookie Policy.

Waitlist members

If you join a waitlist or register your interest in a future Pádel & Match event, we may collect information such as:

  • first name
  • email address
  • telephone number
  • age or age range
  • gender
  • who you are interested in meeting
  • padel level
  • preferred location or event
  • preferred age group
  • other information reasonably necessary to determine which Pádel & Match events may be relevant to you

Joining a waitlist does not guarantee admission to an event.

Event participants

When you register for an event, we may collect:

  • first and last name
  • first name or preferred name used during the event
  • age or date of birth
  • gender
  • dating preference
  • padel level
  • email address
  • telephone number
  • event selection
  • booking information
  • payment status
  • attendance status
  • relevant communications with Pádel & Match
  • other information reasonably necessary to organise the event

We aim to collect only information that is genuinely required for the organisation of the event, participant grouping, safety and, where applicable, matching.

Payment information

Payments are processed through Shopify, our e-commerce and payments platform, or another payment service provider.

Pádel & Match does not need to receive or store your complete payment card details where the payment is processed directly by the payment provider.

We may nevertheless receive and retain information relating to the transaction, such as:

  • payment status
  • amount paid
  • transaction reference
  • date of payment
  • refunds or credits
  • billing information where legally required

The payment provider processes payment information under its own privacy terms.

4. Dating preferences and sensitive personal data

Because Pádel & Match is a dating-oriented social experience, participants may voluntarily provide information about the people they are interested in meeting.

Depending on the information provided, this may reveal or imply information concerning a person's sexual orientation. Under European data protection law, information concerning sexual orientation is treated as a special category of personal data and receives additional protection.

Where we process information revealing or concerning sexual orientation, we will do so only where an appropriate legal basis applies, including explicit consent where required.

We use this information only for relevant Pádel & Match purposes, such as:

  • determining which event or participant group is relevant
  • organising participant rotations or groups
  • facilitating the event experience
  • operating the optional matching system

We do not publish this information.

We do not sell it.

We do not use it to create public dating profiles.

Participants may withdraw consent to consent-based processing at any time by contacting contact@padelandmatch.com. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn. In some circumstances, withdrawing consent may mean that we can no longer provide a particular matching or event-related service.

5. Why do we use your personal data?

We may process personal data in order to:

  • manage event registrations
  • process and administer ticket purchases
  • confirm bookings
  • manage event capacity
  • operate event waitlists
  • create appropriate participant groups
  • organise padel rotations
  • communicate practical event information
  • verify eligibility for an event
  • operate the post-event matching system
  • communicate mutual matches
  • provide customer support
  • respond to questions or complaints
  • manage cancellations, credits or event changes
  • maintain participant and event safety
  • investigate reports of inappropriate behaviour
  • prevent individuals who present a legitimate safety concern from attending future events
  • administer photography and media preferences
  • improve our events and services
  • analyse general event performance
  • prevent fraud or misuse
  • maintain business and accounting records
  • comply with legal obligations
  • protect the legitimate interests and legal rights of Pádel & Match and its participants

6. Our legal bases for processing

Depending on the circumstances, we process personal data on one or more of the following legal bases.

Performance of a contract

When you purchase a ticket, we need certain personal data in order to provide the event you have booked.

This includes activities such as processing your registration, confirming your place, organising your participation and communicating essential event information.

Consent

We may rely on your consent where required, including for certain marketing communications, optional cookies, certain uses of photographs or video, and processing of special-category data where explicit consent is the appropriate legal basis.

You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting contact@padelandmatch.com.

Legitimate interests

We may process personal data where this is reasonably necessary for legitimate business or participant interests, provided those interests are not overridden by your fundamental rights and freedoms.

Examples may include:

  • organising and improving events
  • preventing misuse
  • protecting our systems
  • responding to participant concerns
  • maintaining event safety
  • establishing or defending legal claims
  • maintaining limited records concerning serious participant misconduct where necessary and proportionate to protect future participants

Legal obligations

We may process or retain information where required to comply with tax, accounting, consumer, regulatory or other legal obligations.

7. How the matching system works

Some Pádel & Match events may include an optional post-event matching system.

After an event, you may be invited to privately indicate which participant or participants you would like to see again.

Your selections are confidential.

We compare your selections with the selections made by other participants.

If two participants select each other:

IT'S A MATCH.

Only where there is mutual interest will Pádel & Match facilitate a connection or share the relevant contact information.

No mutual match = no contact details shared by Pádel & Match.

We will not tell another participant that you selected them unless the system identifies a mutual match.

We will not tell you who did not select you.

The matching system is intended to provide a discreet way for participants to express interest without creating unnecessary pressure or embarrassment.

8. Automated decision-making

The Pádel & Match matching process is primarily based on choices voluntarily made by participants.

A mutual match occurs when two participants independently express interest in each other.

Pádel & Match does not currently use automated profiling or artificial intelligence to determine romantic compatibility or decide whom a participant should date.

Operational tools may be used to help organise event groups, capacity or rotations, but they are not intended to make legally significant decisions about participants solely through automated processing.

9. Contact details between participants

We do not provide participant lists containing telephone numbers, email addresses or other private contact details to other participants.

Where participants exchange details directly during an event, they do so voluntarily and independently.

Where the Pádel & Match matching system is used, contact details will only be shared or a connection facilitated following mutual interest.

Once participants have voluntarily exchanged contact information or have been connected following a mutual match, subsequent communication takes place independently of Pádel & Match.

10. Photography and video

Pádel & Match events may be photographed or filmed for purposes including:

  • social media
  • the Pádel & Match website
  • event promotion
  • advertising
  • brand communications
  • future event marketing

We will handle identifiable images in accordance with applicable privacy and image-rights requirements.

Where consent is required for a particular use, we will request it.

Participants who do not wish to appear in event photography should inform Pádel & Match, contact us at contact@padelandmatch.com, or inform the event host on arrival. Where reasonably possible, we will take practical steps to respect this preference.

We may use additional consent procedures for close-up, featured, testimonial or promotional content.

Consent to promotional photography is not a condition of being romantically matched with another participant.

11. Event safety and behaviour records

Pádel & Match wants participants to be able to meet in a safe and respectful environment.

If we receive a complaint or report concerning harassment, intimidation, unwanted sexual behaviour, aggression, discrimination, threatening behaviour or another serious breach of our Terms & Conditions, we may process information relating to the incident.

This may include:

  • the identity of the people involved
  • the nature of the complaint
  • communications relating to the incident
  • witness information where relevant
  • actions taken by Pádel & Match
  • whether a participant has been excluded from future events

Such information will only be retained where reasonably necessary and proportionate for safety, legal or operational purposes.

Access to safety-related records will be restricted.

Where appropriate, serious incidents may also be reported to the relevant venue, security personnel, insurers, legal advisers or competent authorities.

12. Who do we share your data with?

We do not sell participant personal data.

We may share limited personal information with service providers where necessary to operate Pádel & Match.

These may include:

  • website hosting providers
  • booking or ticketing platforms
  • payment processors
  • email providers
  • messaging or communication services
  • event management systems
  • analytics providers
  • IT and cloud service providers
  • padel clubs and event venues where operationally necessary
  • professional advisers such as accountants or lawyers
  • public authorities where disclosure is legally required

Service providers should only receive the information necessary for the service they provide.

Where a service provider processes personal data on our behalf, we seek to use appropriate contractual and organisational safeguards.

13. Event venues and partners

Pádel & Match events may take place at independent padel clubs, restaurants, hotels, bars or other venues.

We do not automatically provide those organisations with your complete registration or dating information.

Only information reasonably necessary for operational purposes should be shared.

Where a third party independently collects personal data directly from you, that organisation may act as a separate data controller and its own privacy policy may apply.

14. International data transfers

Some technology or service providers used by Pádel & Match may process or store personal data outside Spain or the European Economic Area.

Where personal data is transferred internationally, we will use appropriate safeguards where required by applicable data protection law.

Depending on the destination and provider, these safeguards may include an adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission, approved contractual safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism.

15. How long do we keep your data?

We do not intend to retain personal information indefinitely.

Different categories of information may be retained for different periods depending on why they were collected.

For example:

  • waitlist information may be retained while it remains relevant to upcoming Pádel & Match events or until you withdraw from the waitlist
  • event registration information may be retained for the period reasonably necessary to administer the event and deal with follow-up matters
  • matching selections should only be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to operate and administer the relevant matching process
  • marketing information may be retained until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent where consent is the applicable basis
  • payment, invoice and accounting information may be retained for the period required under applicable law
  • complaints and safety-related records may be retained for a reasonable period where necessary to protect participants, investigate incidents, establish or defend legal claims or prevent a person from attending future events
  • information relevant to an ongoing dispute or legal obligation may be retained for longer where necessary

When personal data is no longer required, we will delete it, anonymise it or otherwise cease processing it, unless continued retention is required or permitted by law.

16. Marketing communications

If you choose to receive Pádel & Match news, event announcements or promotional communications, we may use your contact information for this purpose where legally permitted.

Where consent is required, we will ask for it.

You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe mechanism provided in the communication or by contacting contact@padelandmatch.com.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending essential communications relating to an event you have booked.

17. Cookies

Padelandmatch.com may use cookies and similar technologies.

Some cookies may be technically necessary for the website to function.

Other cookies, such as analytics or advertising cookies, will be handled in accordance with applicable consent requirements.

More information about the cookies and technologies used on the website will be provided in our Cookie Policy and, where applicable, through the website's cookie consent tool.

18. Social media

Pádel & Match operates social media accounts, including @padelandmatch on Instagram.

If you interact with us through a social media platform, the platform itself may also process your personal information under its own privacy policy.

Pádel & Match does not control how independent social media platforms process information within their own services.

19. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against:

  • unauthorised access
  • accidental loss
  • misuse
  • alteration
  • unauthorised disclosure
  • destruction

Access to participant information should be limited to people who reasonably need it for Pádel & Match operations.

Because no online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, we cannot promise absolute security. However, privacy and discretion are fundamental to the Pádel & Match concept and we aim to handle participant information accordingly.

20. Your data protection rights

Under applicable data protection law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you may have the right to:

  • request access to your personal data
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • request deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances
  • request restriction of processing
  • object to certain processing
  • request portability of certain personal data
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority

These rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal exceptions.

For example, we may need to retain certain transaction information to comply with legal obligations even after you request deletion of your event information.

To exercise your rights, contact us at contact@padelandmatch.com.

We may need to verify your identity before processing a request.

21. Right to complain

If you believe that your personal data has not been processed correctly, we encourage you to contact us first at contact@padelandmatch.com so that we can try to resolve the issue.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority.

As Pádel & Match is established in Spain, the relevant supervisory authority will generally be the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD).

22. Children

Pádel & Match events are intended for adults.

Participants must be at least 18 years old, unless a higher minimum age is specified for a particular event.

We do not knowingly collect personal data for dating or matching purposes from persons under the age of 18.

If we become aware that a person under 18 has registered for a Pádel & Match dating event, we may cancel the registration and delete the relevant information, subject to any information that must be retained for legal, payment, safety or fraud-prevention purposes.

23. Data minimisation

Pádel & Match follows a simple principle:

If we don't need the information, we shouldn't collect it.

We aim to collect only the personal information necessary to:

  • organise the event
  • create an appropriate participant group
  • communicate with participants
  • facilitate optional matching
  • maintain safety
  • meet legal obligations
  • improve the Pádel & Match experience

Pádel & Match is about meeting people in real life — not building detailed digital profiles about them.

24. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in:

  • Pádel & Match services
  • event formats
  • technology
  • service providers
  • legal requirements

The latest version will be published on padelandmatch.com.

Where a change materially affects how we process personal data, we will take reasonable steps to communicate the change where required.
